According to the regulations of National Government Services (NGS), all providers of services participating in Medicare program are required to submit cost report annually. NGS requires electronic filing of the cost report, unless authorization to file less then full cost report is received. The Cost Reports are generally due at the end of the fifth month after the end of the provider’s fiscal year. For example, for a company whose fiscal year ends on December 31, the Cost Report due no later then May 31.
It is very important to contact us as soon as you fiscal year ends, thus we can start to collect necessary information. We help you to obtain Provider Statistical and Reimbursement System (PS&R) reports from Individuals Authorized to Access CMS Computer Services (IACS). These reports accumulate statistical and payment data necessary for preparation of the Medicare Cost Reports. In addition we need some information from your Income Tax Returns, accounting books and journals, payroll records, statistical data from other sources used in your type of business.
Failure to submit the Medicare Cost Report results in all payments to be deemed overpayment and withhold up to 100 percent until the Cost Report is received.
